Are these ladies in long dresses out for a stroll or doing their daily shopping? This early 1800's picture has the street still unpaved, with a horse and carriage. There seems to be a person sitting on the bench too.
I see several of the ladies have bustles in the back of their skirts. Did you know that ladies dresses were long like this until the war. They shortened the dresses to save on material.
