Oakland Beach is a very popular beach with deep soft light yellow sand.
"Oakland beach became an important summer resort when the Warwick Railroad ran it's first passenger train, from Providence to the beach, on July 4, 1881.
There was also a footbridge that everyone loved at Oakland beach, which led from the amusement center to the picnic grounds in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries."
